Olympic Dam Dewatering and Evaporation Pond Upgrades
WBHO-I delivered multiple work packages at Olympic Dam, BHP’s multimineral mine located 500km north of Adelaide in South Australia. WBHO-I worked with BHP to deliver various infrastructure upgrades, including of dam walls for tailings storage facilities and a HDPE lined evaporation pond.

The scope involved:
- Over 500,000m3 bulk earthworks
- 50,000m2 of HDPE lining and
- 12km of pipelines.
WBHO-I were engaged during the Identification, Selection & Definition Phase Study to offer detailed engineering and construction support. We worked with the engineering contractor and BHP to provide input to options evaluations and trade-off studies, constructability reviews, early development of execution plans and procedures; and a construction estimates and schedules.
